Young Talents under one roof at Thripunithura

The Mahanavami eve witnessed an assembly of young talents at Sivapoorna a/c auditorium at Thripunithura. Nearly 30 students were hounered in the Merit Evening organized by Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Thripunithura Upasabha. Dr. K. S. Radhakrishnan, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Sree Sankara Sanskrit University inaugurated the Merit Evening held on Saturday, the 16th of October 2010. P. S. Raman (State Vice President and President, Thripunithura Upasabha) presided over the meeting. Gold Medals were presented to the students who scored highest marks in 10th and 12th examinations in both SSLC and CBSE streams. Rank holders from Thripunithura Upasabha in various University examinations and top scorers in other examinations were also honoured by presenting certificates and mementoes by the Chief Guest.

In his inaugural address Dr. Radhakrishnan said that the discrimination expressed by many to Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer who wrote Malayala Sahithya Charithram and Sir C. P. Ramaswami Iyer who is the creator of modern Kerala cannot be justified. Ulloor was a real humanist and Sir C. P. was an excellent administrator. Both of them were then attacked by some special interest groups – he said. The definition of Education has changed from “cultural activity guided by moral values” to “economic activity determined by market forces”. So no student of the community should step back in education only because of poor financial back ground. Kerala Brahmana Sabha should fund all the poor students for their education who have caliber to prove themselves – Dr. Radhakrishnan said addressing the parents and students.

P. S. Raman in his presidential address requested all the members to join together to make Thripunithura Upasabha a model upasabha in the state of Kerala. The acceptance of office by the newly elected office bearers of Youth Wing of Thripunithura Upasabha was also held in the meeting. B. Lakshmi (President), Rajagopal H. (Vice President), Sreeram R. (Secretary), H. Neelakandan (Joint Secretary) and Padmanabhan (Treasurer) took charge as office bearers of Youth Wing. Addressing the audience, E. V. The certificates and prizes for the winners of the cultural competitions in Upasabha level were also given away in the meeting by P. Ananthasubramaniam (State General Secretary) and V. Krishnaswami (District President).
