Bhajanolsavam 2009 at Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Thripunithura

The Upasabha of Thripunithura conducted 'Bhajanolsavam' from December 24th to 27th, 2009 in a grand manner in the presense of hundreds of devotees. The venue was Rugmini Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam at Statue Junction. Emminent singers A. V. K. Raja Simhan Bhagavathar, Sreekanth Bhagavathar, Ramamurthy Bhagavathar, Ramanan Bhagavathar, Ganesh Bhagavathar, Janaki Raman Bhagavathar (all from Chennai), Sankara Narayanan Bhagavathar from Hyderabad, P. S. Krishnamurthy Bhagavathar from Mumbai,  Murugasree Harihara (Ayyappa) Bhagavathar from Kalpathy and Kadayanalloor Rajagopala Bhagavathar performed in this 'akhanda namasankeerthanam' conducted for four days.

We deserve linguistic minority status in Kerala - V.Ramalingam


It was sharp 6.30 p.m. The Brahmana Samooha Madom Hall at Kavumpady, Muvattupuzha was all set to receive the State President V.Ramalingam and his team. A.S.Balasubramania Iyer, the President, Muvattupuzha Brahmana Samooham received the newly elected President with 'Poornakumbham'. Senior member of Upasabha C.P.Narayanaswami chanted the 'veda manthram' as part of the ceremonial welcome.

The occasion was the 'Kudumba Mela 09' - the annual get-together of family members of Muvattupuzha Upasabha on Saturday, the 5th December 2009. The meeting was presided by S. Krishnamurthy, President of Upasabha. In his Inaugural address, V. Ramalingam said as we are strict followers of our culture and life style, we deserve a minority status and all pressures will be put on state government to declare tamil brahmin community as linguistic minority in the state of Kerala.

The State Vice President and Central Zone President P. S. Raman declared, the basic infrastructure for the proposed engineering and management entrance coaching centre at Thripunithura is nearing completion and he invited the office bearers to visit the premises. By the end of January, the works will be completed and inaugurated which will be a proud for the entire brahmin community - he added.

T. N. Krishna Iyer, Vice President of Upasabha welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was delivered by K. Rama Iyer, Joint Secretary of Muvattupuzha Upasabha.

After the crisp and colourful meeting, the members and their family members came out with sweet melodies and mind blowing dance numbers.

State/District Office Bearers at Muvattupuzha on 5th December '09


The Muvattupuzha Upasabha, one among the leading upasabhas in Ernakulam District has organised a reception for the newly elected state office bearers on Saturday, 5th December 2009 in connection with the annual get together - 'Kudumba Mela 09' - of the members . A ceremonial welcome with 'Poornakumbham' will be offered to V. Ramalingam, State President by A. S. Balasubramania Iyer, President, Brahmana Samooham. The meeting will start at 6.00 p.m. presided by S. Krishnamurthy, President, Muvattupuzha Upasabha. Also a reception for District office bearers including Vanitha Vibhagam is arranged in connection with the programme. A. S. Balasubramania Iyer and T. K. S. Iyer, Idukki District President will felicitate the dignitories. Secretary S. Muralidas briefed that there will be variety entertainments by the members of Upasabha and dinner thereafter.

Sasthapreethi at Sankara Santhi Nilayam Kalady

It is proposed to conduct Sastha Preethi at Sankara Santhi Nilayam, Kalady on 4th and 5th of December 2009. The Annual Sastha Preethi of Nayathode Samooham was undertaken by Santhi Nilayam which was conducted during the month of 'Vrichikam'. The priest Ramani of Tripunithura has kindly agreed to conduct the Pooja on 4 th and 5 th of December.

On 4th December, there will be Ganapathi Homam and Bhagavathi Seva followed by Sastha Preethi on 5th of December. Sri. P. Veeraraghavan, Managing Trustee of Santhi Nilayam and Sri.K.S. Anantharaman, Secretary wishes there should be as many devotees participate for the poojas and other usual Japams on the day of Sasthapreethi as well as the previous day.

Reception for new Office Bearers at Aluva & Mattancherry

The State office bearers and newly elected office bearers of Ernakulam District were given warm welcome at Aluva and Mattancherry. The Aluva Samooham conferred a Honorary Membership to V. Ramalingam, State President on the occasion.

Elders of the community as well as the youngsters took part in the meeting aggressively. At Mattancherry, they conducted various competetions for youngsters as well as elders. Senior citizens of the upasabha were honoured on the occassion. V. Ramalingam (State President), V. Krishnaswami (Dist. President), K. Annalakshmi (President, Vanitha Vibhagam), and N. Ramachandran (Dist. Vice President) addressed the gathering.

In his address, V. Ramalingam said that the Insurance Project running successfully in Ernakulam District will be implemented in State level to support the deserving community members.

Prathishta Kumbhabhishekam at Kalady

It has been decided to celebrate the 100th prathishta day of temple at Kalady. A meeting of Devotees, Dharmadhikaries, and Managers of Sri Shankara Math was held at Sringeri Shankara Math, Kalady on 7th November 2009. Representatives of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Brahmana Samoohams and leaders from various socio-cultural organizations were invited to give valuable suggestions for the smooth and efficient conduct of centenary celebrations and are requested to have active participation of their respective organizations in the celebrations proposed.

The meeting was presided by Padmasree Sri.V.R.Gowri Shanker CEO and administrator of Sri Sringeri math. In his speech the administrator said that the Prathishta Kumbabhishekom was conducted on Maha Shukla Dwadashi (21-02-1910) by his holiness Jagdguru Sri. Sachidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharathi Mahaswamigal, the 33rd Peedathipathi of the illustrious Sringeri Guru Parampara. He said that 3 Maharajas and a crowd of 15000 were present on that occasion. He said that there will be religious functions like Dasha Sahasra Modaka Mahaganapathi Homa, Athirudra Mahayagna, Shatachandi Mahayagna apart from cultural programmes and other religious discourses and veda sammelanam which may extend to 12 days. The religious part requires the presence of 200 hundred priests for 12 days.

The infrastructure is to be managed and requirement of volunteers for these purposes are to be met. He insisted that something concrete , solid and relevant has to be executed. He added that all religious activities will start on the sankalpam "Loka Kalyanartham" - for the benefit of the whole world.Kerala Minister for Transports, Sri.Jose Thettayil said that he will extend all cooperation to the Celebrations and he is lucky to be there to be part of the programme. He added that he will personally visit Sringeri Mutt to invite Swamigal for the Kumbhabhishekam.

District Committee Members Directory

It has been decided to publish a directory of the District Committee Members of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam which includes the individual contact details along with a photograph. Apart from the Presidents and Secreteries from 11 (eleven) upasabhas with there Vanitha Vibhagam, the elected members to the Dist. Committee will be covered. The data collection is in progress and a beautiful printed directory will be released soon. A digital version of the same is also planned for tech-savy community members. Those who have not yet given the Filled data sheets may kindly rush the same to the office.

V. Krishnaswami Elected as Ernakulam District President

The District Committee held on 14th of October 2009, here in Gayathri Kalyana Mandapam, Edappilly; elected V. Krishnaswami (Muvattupuzha) as President of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam District. The post arised due to the resignation of V. Ramalingam (Mattancherry) who was elected as State President in the Annual General Body Meeting held at Ernakulam last month. The following were elected unanimously and took charge with the newly elected president.

The meeting congratulated the new office bearers took charge. In his address Krishnaswami said he will do his best to strengthen the Sabha; the projects and activities carried out will help to unite the community and support the deserving. Edappilly Samooham President T. V. Venkiteswaran welcomed the gathering and Ramachandran, Vice President delivered vote of thanks.
