Nearly 30 students were hounered in the Merit Evening organized by Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Thripunithura Upasabha. Dr. K. S. In his inaugural address Dr. Radhakrishnan said that the discrimination expressed by many to Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer who wrote Malayala Sahithya Charithram and Sir C. P. Both of them were then attacked by some special interest groups – he said. The definition of Education has changed from “cultural activity guided by moral values” to “economic activity determined by market forces”. So no student of the community should step back in education only because of poor financial back ground. Kerala Brahmana Sabha should fund all the poor students for their education who have caliber to prove themselves – Dr. Radhakrishnan said addressing the parents and students.

P. S. Raman in his presidential address requested all the members to join together to make Thripunithura Upasabha a model upasabha in the state of Kerala. Navarathri celebrations begins in various parts of Ernakulam District

Navarathri Mahotsavam occupies a much honoured place in the Saiva, Saktha and Vaishnava schools of worship. Worshipping the devine mother in her three magnified forms – Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Maha Saraswathi – is the main significance of Navarathri. It is age old custom to celebrate the Navarathri with great passion and piousness by Tamil Brahmins in Kerala. Many Brahmin houses and Samooha Madoms will be busy with Bomma Kolu in these nine days. Cultural programmes are held on all the days in front of Kolu. The Bommai decorated in Kolu is taken home and it is believed that the idol brings prosperity to home with the nine day poojas. Almost all the Samoohams have made arrangements to make the idols available to the general public.

K. Annalakshmi, District President of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam District inaugurated the celebrations at Ernakulam City Unit. Mattancherry, Aluva and Muvattupuzha are the main centers where the Bomma Kolu is prepared.
