Family Meet of Ernakulam City Unit held at Godrej House

The Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam City Unit conducted a Family Meet at Godrej House, Panampilly Nagar on Sunday, the 18th of March 2012 at 04.00 p.m. for its members residing in Panampilly Nagar, Giri Nagar, Vidya Nagar and Indira Nagar. The meet was inaugurated by Bhama Padmanabhan, Councillor of Ward 56 and was chaired by J. Subramoni, President of KBS, Ernakulam City Unit. This is the first one in this series and it has been decided to conduct the Family Meet in all areas of the Ernakulam with an objective to appraise the community members about the activities of the Sabha and to collect ideas and suggestions from the members, said M. Vanchiswaran, Secretary.

Bhama Padmanabhan in her inaugural address stressed that the elders should ensure the participation of youngsters and children in this kind of meetings. J. Subramoni, explained the various activities of the KBS, Ernakulam City Unit like medical & educational aid, marriage assistance for the needy, pension scheme, Onam Trade Fair etc. in his presidential address. Ganesha Ganapadigal (Kinattunkara Samooham Vadhyar) enlightened the gathering about the importance of Sandhyavandanam and other rituals. He promised that he is willing to conduct classes on the above especially for the youngsters those who are interested. T. K. Narayanaswamy, Secretary of Gramajana Samooham, Ernakulam and former State Joint Secretary of Kerala Brahmana Sabha briefed the activities being organised jointly by the Gramajana Samooham and Sabha.

90 members attended the meeting which commenced with an introduction of the members. Majority of the members appreciated the Sabha for having arranged such a meet and wanted to have such meetings at least once in six months. M. Vanchiswaran, Secretary, KBS, Ernakulam City Unit welcomed the gathering. Baby Shanker, Secretary of KBS, Vanitha Vibhagam gave away the felicitation and P. R. Sankaranarayanan, Joint Secretary, KBS, Ernakulam City Unit delivered the vote of thanks. There was high tea after the meeting and the Family Meet came to an end by 6.00 p.m.
