The Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Perumbavoor Upasabha paid tribute to late. Adv. K. Harihara Iyer, on Sunday, the 25th of July 2010 in the meeting held at Samooham Mandapam, Perumbavoor. N. Ramachandran, President of Perumbavoor Upasabha delivered the commemorative speech. N. Ranganathan (State Committee Member), Mohandas S. (District Joint Secretary, KBS, Ernakulam), Prof. P. S. Ramachandran (former Secretary, Perumbavoor Upasabha), Kamala Hariharan (Convenor, Narayaneeyam Seva Samithy) and H. Ramanathan (President, Vadarkutti Samooham) were present in the meeting.
Adv. K. Harihara Iyer was a multifarious personality who was elected as the first Municipal Chairman of the 16 member Municipal Council of Perumbavoor in 1953. During his tenure, he kick started many projects in the city benefiting the common man. He was schooled in Perumbavoor, graduated from Madras Christian College and did his B. L. at Government Law College, Trivandrum. He has many ‘firsts’ to his credits like, the first President of Perumbavoor Bar Association, first President of Swathi Thirunal Sangeetha Sabha and first President of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Perumbavoor Upasabha. He was the Patron of Kathakali Club and Akshara Sloka Samithy of Perumbavoor. He also served as the President of the Congress Committee of Perumbavoor Constituency. His wife was late. Janaki Hariharan and H. Krishna Sounder (Abu Dhabi) is the only son and Hamsalatha Hariharan (Chennai) is the only daughter.
