A stall to sell typical Brahmin items such as thattai, murukku, pappadams, kondattams, sweets, pickles, sambar powder and rasam powder was opened near Sree Dharmasastha temple at Perumbavoor on 31st of March 2010. The inauguration of the stall was done by Anjam Krishnan Namboothiri and Prof. Vaidyalinga Sarma by lighting up a ‘Vilakku’. Babu (President, Sree Dharmasastha Temple Advisory Committee) handed over the first sale to N. C. Mohanan (Ex-Municipal Chairman, Perumbavoor) in the presence of N. Ramachandran (District Vice President and Presedent, Perumbavoor Upasabha), H. Ramanathan (President, Vadarkutti Samooham), N. Ranganathan (State Committee Member), K. Hari (Secretary, Perumbavoor Upasabha), J. Lalitha (President, Vanitha Vibhagam, Perumbavoor), Lakshmi Hariharasubramania Iyer (Secretary, Vanitha Vibhagam, Perumbavoor), H. Balakrishnan, N. Hariharasubramania Iyer, Kamala Hariharan, K. Balambal, Kripa Krishnan, Rajalakshmi and Pushpa.
The Stall started functioning in connection with the Bhagavatha Seva Sathram and Thiruvuthsavam at Perumbavoor Sree Dharmasastha Temple and will function for 15 days. Items available here are made at Brahmin homes as part of promoting self-employment scheme among Brahmin ladies. “The items are prepared and packed in hygiene conditions and made available at an economical price” – said Lakshmi Hariharasubramania Iyer, Secretary of Vanitha Vibhagam, Perumbavoor.
