To protest the apathy of the Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University at Kalady in setting up study centers on reformist leaders, a co-ordination of 28 organizations including Kerala Brahmana Sabha – Sanathana Dharma Suhrud Vedi – conducted a ‘Dharna’ on 13th of March 2010 in front of the official residence of the Vice Chancellor. On behalf of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, N. Ramachandran, District Vice President addressed the gathering with other leaders of the co-ordination including Prof. P. V. Peethambaran, General Convener.
The university, in its budget, had proposed to set up seven study centers in the names of Sankaracharya, Sree Narayana Guru, Mahatma Gandhi, Chattambi Swamikal, Ayyamkali, Agamanantha Swamikal and Inter-Religious study centers. But the proposal was sidelined by the decisions by the new Vice-Chancellor.
