The Perumbavoor Vadarkutti Brahmana Samooham, one among the oldest Samooha Madoms in central Kerala is celebrating Sasthapreethi on Saturday, the 6th of February 2010. Around 200 years ago, formed for the social, spiritual and moral uplift of Brahmin community in and around Perumbavoor, the Samooham is still satisfying the religious and social needs of Brahmin Community. This Samooham had connections with Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple, Thiruvananthapuram during the royal reign of Travancore.
The celebration starts on 5th of February 2010 with a ‘Athazha Ootu’ at Samooha Madom. On 6th, the morning session begins with Sastha Sahasranama Archana at 8.00 a.m. followed by Vedaparayanam, Bhajana – Sasthampaattu, Deeparadhana and Samaradhana at 1.00 p.m. The evening session starts with Vanchippattu – a musical procession begins from Sreerama Bhajana Madom – followed by Bhajana, Deeparadhana and 'Ottappana Samarppanam' at 10.00 p.m.
