The District Committee of Kerala Brahmana Sabha expressed deepest condolences to the family of Sunil Iyer who died in the Bangalore office fire yesterday. Sunil's body was bought to his home at Thottuva today morning. The leaders of Kerala Brahmana Sabha P. S. Raman, P. Veeraraghavan, Ganapathy Iyer, N. Hariharasubramania Iyer, J. Lalitha and N. Natarajan visited Sunil Iyer's home and paid homage. K. Hari, Secretary of Perumbavoor Upasabha paid floral tribute on behalf of the District Committee of Kerala Brahmana Sabha.

Building complex nearing completion at Thripunithura
The 8000 square feet building complex of Thripunithura Upasabha is nearing completion with the aid of donations from the community members. The three storied building is located behind Sidhivinayaka Temple at Chakkamkulangara. This building will accomodate office rooms and conference hall for the upasabha and its vanitha vibhagam with a shop room in the ground floor for the use of upasabha itself. A non air conditioned auditorium in the 1st floor and a fully air conditioned auditorium in the 2nd floor, each with a capacity of 200-250 seats are the main attractions of this building, fully owned by Thrippunithura Upasabha. The roof top is equipped with a spacious dining area with wash and toilets. Apart from these, a lift and generator facility for 24 hours is provided here.

Bhajanolsavam at Aluva on 27th & 28th February
The Aluva Brahmana Samooham has decided to conduct Bhajanolsavam at Samooham Bhajana Madom on 27th and 28th of February 2010. Sampradaya Bhajana will be performed under the leadership of K. V. Narasimha Bhagavathar (Erode Rajamani). The Bhajanolsavam starts with Ashtapadi concert by Vanitha Vibhagam of Aluva Brahmana Sabha at 3.00 p.m. followed by Guru Dhyanam, Deepa Pradakshinam and Dololsavam. On the second day, programme starts with Unchavrithi at 9.00 a.m. followed by Sree Valli Murugan Kalyanam, Anjaneyolsavam and Samaradhana. S. Venkitesh, Secretary invite all devotees to be present on the auspecious occasion.
Yaama Pooja conducted at Sri Maha Ganapathy Dharmasastha Temple, Aluva
The Aluva Brahmana Samooham conducted Yaama Pooja at Sri Maha Ganapathy Dharmasastha Temple in connection with Sivarathri Mahothsavam on 12th of February 2010. Under the spiritual leadership of T. S. Seetharama Vadhyar, Samooham priest, the poojas commenced at 7.30 a.m. and lasted till next day morning 4.30 a.m. Chanting of Sree Rudra and Chamaka for 11 times and abhishekam with 11 dravyas were carried out. Poojas ended with Vibhoothi abhishekam, Vilwarchana, Nivedyam and Mahadeeparadhana. Rithiks from Sringeri Madom participated in the Sree Rudra chanting.

Sanskrit Classes at Aluva
The Brahmana Samooham of Aluva has started Sanskrit classes at Samooham Bhajana Madom from 10th February 2010. Prof. C. D. Gopalakrishnan of Thanthra Vidya Peeth is conducting the classes. The classes are scheduled on Wednesday evenings, from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. for all irrespective of age or gender. For details, Please contact M. S. R. K. Narayaneeya Parayanam by Brahmasree Sundarkumar at Ernakulam
The Sankara Santhi Nilayam & Educational Trust, Kalady and Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam City Unit in association with Gramajana Samooham, Ernakulam will organize Narayaneeya Parayanam at Gramajana Samooham Hall, Ernakulam from 24th February to 3rd March 2010. The 10 day programme is scheduled to begin at 6.30 p.m. and end by 8.30 p.m. everyday. Brahmasree Sundarkumar will give lectures on Narayaneeyam.
Narayaneeyam is a devotional hymn glorifying Lord Guruvayoorappan, composed by Melpathur Narayana Bhattatiri - a great scholar-devotee who lived in Kerala in the 16-17 centuries. It is a work consisting of 1036 slokas, divided into 100 dasakams, each dasakam consisting of approximately 10 slokas. It is a condensed version of Srimad Bhagavatham.

Sasthapreethi at Perumbavoor Vadarkutti Brahmana Samooham on 6th February
The Perumbavoor Vadarkutti Brahmana Samooham, one among the oldest Samooha Madoms in central Kerala is celebrating Sasthapreethi on Saturday, the 6th of February 2010. Around 200 years ago, formed for the social, spiritual and moral uplift of Brahmin community in and around Perumbavoor, the Samooham is still satisfying the religious and social needs of Brahmin Community. This Samooham had connections with Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple, Thiruvananthapuram during the royal reign of Travancore.
The celebration starts on 5th of February 2010 with a ‘Athazha Ootu’ at Samooha Madom. On 6th, the morning session begins with Sastha Sahasranama Archana at 8.00 a.m. followed by Vedaparayanam, Bhajana – Sasthampaattu, Deeparadhana and Samaradhana at 1.00 p.m. The evening session starts with Vanchippattu – a musical procession begins from Sreerama Bhajana Madom – followed by Bhajana, Deeparadhana and 'Ottappana Samarppanam' at 10.00 p.m.
On behalf of Vadarkutti Brahmana Samooham, Perumbavoor, H. Ramanathan, President invites the presence of all devotees on the day.

City Unit honoured Hind Rattan Award Winner Kulathu Iyer Mahadevan
The Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Ernakulam City Unit honoured Kulathu Iyer Mahadevan, on winning the prestigious Hind Rattan Award by the advisory board of NRI welfare society of India in Kuwait on 29th of January 2010. Kulathu Iyer Mahadevan, working at Burgan Bank Kuwait, have been conferred this award in recognition of his achievements, outstanding services and contribution to the NRI community. The award was presented on the eve of the 61st Republic Day by Vilasrao Desmukh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, in a glittering function at New Delhi. R. Ramakrishnan, President of Ernakulam City Unit felicitated Mahadevan by draping a ‘ponnada’ and M.Vanchiswaran, Secretary, KBS, Ernakulam City Unit presented him a memento.
It makes the award more special and unique because of the fact that the award has been conferred by an NRI body in Kuwait for the service rendered by him in that country. Hon'ble Justice P. R. Raman inaugurated Skandhapuranam at Aluva Brahmana Samooham
The Skandhapurana Parayanam organised by Aluva Brahmana Samooham was inaugurated by Hon'ble Justice P. R. Raman on Sunday, the 24th of January 2010 at Samooham Bhajana Madom. The Inaugural Meeting was presided by H. Narayana Iyer, President, Aluva Brahmana Samooham. Yagna Acharya Puranasree Alappat Ramachandran gave a discourse on Skandhapuranam. S. Venkitesh, Secretary of Aluva Brahmana Samooham welcomed the gathering and K. G. V. Pathy, Vice President of Samooham and State Treasurer of Kerala Brahmana Sabha delivered the vote of thanks. The Skandhapuranam ended on Saturday, the 30th of January - Thaipooyam - with Kavadi and Maha Abhishekam.
